NEOGEN Fraser Broth Base, 5 kg
Fraser Broth Base is used with Acriflavin, Nalidixic Acid, and Ferric Ammonium Citrate for the selective enrichment of Listeria spp. Fraser Broth Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.Formulated according to MLG Appendix 1.09 (for the ISO 11290 formulation please use NCM0001). Listeria monocytogenes, described first in 1926 by Murray, Webb, and Swann, is an extensive problem in public health and food industries. This organism has the ability to cause human illness and death, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and pregnant women. Epidemiological evidence from outbreaks of listeriosis indicated the principle route of transmission is via the consumption of foodstuffs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Implicated vehicles of transmission include turkey frankfurters, coleslaw, pasteurized milk, Mexican style cheese and pate. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/fraser-broth-base

NEOGEN Enterobacteria Enrichment (EE) Broth Mossel, 10 kg
Enterobacteria Enrichment (EE) Broth Mossel is used for the cultivation and enrichment of Enterobacteriaceae in food. Enterobacteria Enrichment (EE) Broth Mossel, conforms to Harmonized USP/EP/JP Requirements and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Enterobacteria Enrichment Broth Mossel was developed by Mossel, Visser, and Cornelissen to facilitate the growth of Enterobacteriaceae. This medium contains dextrose to enhance the growth of E. coli and Salmonella spp., particularly in food samples. Nuisance organisms are suppressed by the addition of Ox Bile and Brilliant Green. Enterobacteria Enrichment Broth Mossel is used as an enrichment broth, providing a rich environment for the recovery of damaged or injured cells. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/enterobacteria-enrichment-broth-mossel

NEOGEN Brilliant Green Agar (Modified), 500 g
Brilliant Green Agar is used for the selection and differentiation of Salmonella (other than S. typhi) from foods or feedstuffs. Brilliant Green Agar is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. First introduced by Kristensen et al in 1925 as a selective medium for the isolation of Salmonella (except S. typhi). The medium was modified by the Netherlands Institute for Public Health, Utrecht. The modification was to increase the selectivity of the medium by increasing the dye concentration. This formulation is quoted by the International Standards Organization, standard European Community Methods, the American Public Health Association and the Association of Official Analytical Chemists. The medium is suitable for subcultures from selective enrichment media. However, because this medium is highly selective, small numbers of salmonellae may be missed. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/brilliant-green-agar

NEOGEN YM Broth, 500 g
YM Broth is used for the cultivation of fungi in a laboratory setting. YM Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. YM Broth is prepared according to the formulation published by Wickerham. Wickerham suggested that YM Broth, acidified to pH 3.0 – 4.0, be used as an enrichment medium for yeasts from populations also containing bacteria and molds. To favor isolation of fermentative species, add a layer of sterile paraffin oil 1 cm deep on the surface of the inoculated broth. Cultures should be incubated until growth appears, and then streaked onto YM Agar to obtain isolated yeast colonies. To isolate fermentative and oxidative strains, place acidified inoculated YM Broth on a rotary shaker for 1 to 2 days. This favors yeast recovery while preventing sporulation of molds. Media selectivity may be enhanced through acidification or addition of selective agents. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/ym-broth

NEOGEN MacConkey Broth, 10 kg
MacConkey Broth is used for the detection of coliform bacteria in milk and water. Conforms to Harmonized USP/EP/JP Requirements and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A medium recommended by the Harmonized USP/EP/JP for the selective enrichment of Escherichia coli from non-sterile samples. Conforms to Harmonized USP/EP/JP performance specification. Gelatin peptone provides a source of nitrogen, while lactose is a fermentable carbohydrate. Ox bile acts a selective agent inhibiting most Gram-positive organisms and bromocresol purple acts as a pH indicator. A color change from purple to yellow indicates growth of a bile tolerant, lactose fermenting organism such as Escherichia coli. According to the Harmonized USP/EP/JP, MacConkey Broth is used as a selective enrichment broth, with subculture performed onto MacConkey Agar. NEOGEN Todd Hewitt Broth, 10 kg
Todd Hewitt Broth is used for the cultivation of streptococci and other fastidious microorganisms. Todd Hewitt Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Todd Hewitt Broth was originally developed for the production of antigenic streptococcal hemolysin. Todd Hewitt Broth is prepared according to the formula described by Updyke and Nickle, who compared media for type specific extract production of group A streptococci. This study was performed using Todd Hewitt Broth prepared with infusion of fresh beef heart as a control. Results showed Todd Hewitt Broth was particularly satisfactory for growth of group A streptococci for serological typing. Todd Hewitt Broth is recommended as an enrichment medium for growth of streptococcal cells in the identification of groups A and B by IF staining. For more information visit https://www.neogen.com/solutions/Microbiology/todd-hewitt-broth
